TEF Braids is bringing textile manufacturing close to home with their micro-factory in Athol, New York where they design, manufacture and bring to market new products.  The AMBI Bra Collection is TEF’s most recent endeavor and the culmination of almost two decades of invention and self-motivated inquiry into circular lace braiding by Brad Jamison of TEF Braids.

Jamison has given lace a new definition and purpose, turning what once was an ornamental textile into a high performance fabric that embraces the “less is more” principle by using only tensioned filaments to provide fluid support and structure.

TEF introduces a  NEW PARADIGM germane to our age of technology for design and manufacture.

TEF’s bodywear merges machine-made century old disciplines with digital technology in creation of ready-made fashion with a handmade aesthetic that looks and feels different.
Picture
TEF's manufacturing processes embrace practices and techniques new to the history of apparel production showcasing fabrics you've never seen or felt.

These innovations come at a time when the global community seeks alternatives to decrease their environmental footprint through wise material choices and mindful manufacturing practices.  Our streamlined process epitomize the  functional fabric revolution wherein the fabric IS the apparel.

Picture
TEF's manufacturing process is inextricably linked to technology’s impact on fashion.

Bodywear is filament engineered for performance, and manufactured in an efficient manner using minimum resources.
Picture
Lessons of lace braiding equal lessons of balancing tension.

The bodywear we produce is integrated through a network of interlaced filaments.  The filaments mold and shape-shift subject to one's movements.  The sensation of filaments tightening and shifting tensions as the body moves is a wearing experience unique to TEF..

Braids are used as the primary means of reinforcement in engineered composites.

We've applied composite engineering principles in construction of bodywear --  building reinforcement and containment  into garments using patterned filaments.

TEF's bodywear collection is an intimate proof of concept project to test and manufacture next to skin apparel using  TEF's new automated manufacturing process.

TEF uses heritage lace braiding machines to produce fabric that IS the apparel.  The designs exhibit tensionally balanced fabric construction with zonally patterned qualities to address breathability, movement, comfort and support.
